Picturing Pictures Permanently
Submitted by: MissJess
Washington, DCAt the beginning of June, my photos went up on the walls of a Dupont Circle coffeeshop. The agreement with the owner was that they would come down at the end of August.
August 31st came and went, and I called the manager to see if I was supposed to come and remove any of the photos at that time. He said that the owner hadn’t lined up a new artist, and that there were several breakdowns, and would I mind waiting until a later date? They will call me when they’re ready. Sure. No problem. I was always inviting people to go see my stuff, and a few more days or weeks of it didn’t hurt my feelings at all.
I had first watched The Secret a few weeks before that, but I wan’t applying it too vigorously to my life. Parking spots? Sure. No lines at the bank/grocery store/post office? Easy. But I hadn’t been giving it much attention elsewhere.
Recently I came into enough money to purchase some extras, one of which was a copy of the DVD. I watched it the day it came, and remembered how powerful it is. It was then that I realized how powerful my visualization skills are.
Every time I invited someone to go see my photos in Dupont Circle, I imagined all of them up there. I didn’t even have to make the invitation–if I was thinking about them, I had the picture of them all on the wall. My intention to keep them there was so strong that it caused breakdowns in other people’s lives so that it could be maintained.
Now that I realize the power of intentional visualization, I’m imagining not only the incremental disappearance of those photos from the wall, but also checks in my hands in the amount of each photo, and the photo’s name. I’m bringing intention to my visualization so that I don’t cause any more upsets for other people.
