Maui HiAuthor, Speaker, Philosopher Visionary. Uk born lived in Maui for 20 years
As a landlord, one of the conundrums I face is that I want to have my place rented to bring in income, but I also want to rent to the right people to create harmony. Especially in my case because I actually live on the property and I share it with a group of people.
This January, for unrelated reasons, all of my tenant informed me they were going to leave. I felt the challenge to get people in there as soon as possible so that I felt secure that rent money was coming in. However, what I also realized was that this was an opportunity to upgrade, as every change always is. Instead of being desperate or insistent, I chose to write a manifesto of exactly the sort of people that I wanted to live in harmony with, and committed to only interviewing and showing the place to those who have read and aligned with the manifesto.
As the first few weeks went by, I saw that this had created a thinning process, and I felt the challenge to open up and compromise. Yet instead, I chose to cancel the trip I had planned and to really lean into the vision of how I wanted to live, and who I wanted to live with.
This was a deep process that happened over the span of a month where I really questioned how many times in my life I had compromised and accepted something less than what I truly wished for and how that inauthenticity had not served me. When I had achieved a sense of balance, I recognized that this required me to trust. To trust the larger, universal field. And that when I was prepared to live by my own guidance, this would open up an invitation to those that were inspired to do so also.
As of April 1, three new tenants moved in completely in alignment with my manifesto and were excited to live on a property and with a community that had such inspiring ideals that complemented and supported their own. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I have learned that if we are to take risks, then we must trust, not only trust others, not only trust the Universe but ultimately we must trust ourselves.
Thank you for The Secret. Thank you for the law of attraction. Thank you so very much to the Universe.
