can you start on Monday?

CanadaI'm 53, retired, and now have the opportunity to focus on my health and well being. The story comes from 30 years ago.
I’m going back awhile with this story, but it still gives me goosebumps.
I was in need of employment and had went through the exercise of “asking” the Universe
for a job that suited me.
On a Thursday I went downtown to visit several places where I had submitted applications. At each
place I ran into some version of the same story either they didn’t need help or they didn’t need me.
Feeling rejected and a little depressed I decided that was enough for the day so I turned my car west and headed for home. Along the way, and this is the only way I know how to describe it, my car decided to turn south. Why, I thought, did that just happen? Oh well, at the next stop sign I can turn right and continue west. You probably have already guessed what happened at the next stop sign I turned left and was now heading east.
Okay, I thought, I’m not sure what’s going on but is there a good reason to be heading east? Yes there is!
Not more that four blocks down the street was a factory where I had also applied. Hmmm.
I continued to the factory, entered by the main door and found the personnel office which was located to the right almost as soon as you walked in. The door was half open, so I stuck my head in and said “Hello.
My name is Steve and I applied here a few weeks ago”. The lady behind the desk, who was holding an application in her hand, said “Really”, then asked “Do you live at such-and-such an address?”, reading the address from the aforementioned application. “Yes I do “, I answered as I began to appreciate what
was happening.
“CAN YOU START ON MONDAY?”, she asked. “YES, I BELIEVE I CAN”
