I bought The Secret about three weeks ago, and have watched it about 20 times now, and with each viewing I get a little more out of it.

Up until recently my focus in life has been on what I did not want, on the fears of lack. Having been laid off from a job three years ago, I went from making 50+ thousand a year to 25 thousand. I have barely gotten by financially. I have been a widow for 9 years now, and have felt very much alone.

Anyway, a few days before the movie arrived, my air conditioning went out in my house. Temperatures inside my house had been sitting around 95 degrees. Living on the edge financially I had $8.00 in my savings and about the same in my checking account. I had no way of paying to have it fixed, not knowing if it could even be fixed.
When the movie arrived I sat and watched it twice in that first viewing. Suddenly it all became clearer for me than it had ever been. I had lived for a number of years in a little community of Spiritualists, called Cassadaga. And having taken development classes I was aware of thoughts as being things, and the Law of Attraction, but it took seeing it on film to really click inside of me.

After viewing the movie, a peace settled over me about my air conditioning and financial issues. In years past I would obsess over this, be depressed, wanting to die. But this time was different I had a knowing inside that everything was going to be taken care of, I didn’t know how, I just knew that it would be. My friends at work knew about my situation, so they were empathetic for me.

I remember one evening about 8pm sitting on the side of my bed, no cloths on, the fans all blowing hot air around the room, and sweat running off me like Niagra Falls when the doorbell rang. I thought oh man who could be calling at this time.
I put some cloths on and answered the bell, there was one of the maintenance men from the school board standing there. He would come out to the schools when their A/C’s needed work done.
He said he wanted to look at my unit to see what the problem was. After a few minutes he told me he thought I had some leaks and all I really needed was some freon, about 100 dollars worth.
After it was cooling the house, I offered him the last 10 dollars I had, and told him I’d pay him payday, which was about ten days away. He told me that it had already been taken care of. He said someone at school had told him to fix it and send the bill to them. He wouldn’t say who it was only that they had said that they couldn’t bare to see the kindest, most gentlest man they had ever met go without air in this heat.

Needless to say I was blown away by this, and all I could say as I went into the house was thank you as loud as I could to the universe.

On the way to work in the morning I usually stop to get a chicken biscuit for breakfast, I handed the lady my debit card, and after a moment she came back and said the debit machine wasn’t working, but said not to worry about it, so I got my breakfast for free too. As I drove away I was yelling at the universe to bring it on I can handle all of this.

Needless to say I’ve had a great sense of well being, and know that my life, and my thoughts are only getting better with each passing day that I use the Secret more and more.
