I am an Indian. In India, we have many rituals, customs, and traditions related to all that we do. There is a particular set of rules for everything. and especially for marriage!!!

I want to marry the man of my dreams, who, also is an Indian but belongs to a different caste. He belongs to a caste/religion totally opposite to mine. In India, you cannot marry someone who belongs to a different community than you. I met this guy in a coaching institute and have known him for 8 long years. This time was sufficient for me to judge that he and I were super compatible with each other and can happily spend our lives together. But alas, our parents did not think so. They were against it. Totally against it. They denied it, saying that they were not happy with this decision. In India, parents are considered superior to the Almighty. Their decision is of utmost importance in life. As they were not happy, we could not move ahead with our decision of getting married. We did not want to hurt them.

I had seen this documentary of The Secret a long time back when I was in college. I decided to give it a try now that I actually needed it. All these years I had been really happy but now I needed it.

I decided my steps. I created a wedding invitation card and published everything as I wanted. The time, date, place, functions, etc. I started looking at it multiple times a day. I started visualizing my wedding, that happiness, the feelings, preparations for the wedding, etc. I started to search for my wedding dress and felt all that a bride does from her end.

Surprisingly, the next day, my sister-in-law called me up and said that she thought a lot about it. She had not been in favor of the marriage, but now she was with me! She said that it’s ultimately my happiness that matters and not the community. She said she is in favor of our relationship and will support us!

My brother, father, and mother have yet to say yes but I am sure that things will turn out successful with The Secret. Thinking, feeling and believing for just one day already worked miracles!! If I believe continuously, I will have what I want soon. I can see myself happily getting married to my love, with a satisfactory smile on our parents’ faces.
